ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice where needles are used in problem areas to help balance the Qi (pronounced as “chi”) of the body. The Qi is a life energy that flows through one’s body which helps to make sure that all of its parts are working harmoniously together. If there is a blockage of the energy flowing through the body freely, then illness tends to happen. Acupuncture can help an individual to re-balance their Qi and improve their overall wellbeing. Many find that this therapy helps them manage a large range of ailments. The illness one is seeking to treat could be emotional or physical.

Moxibustion/Acupuncture including Breech Baby Turning

Moxibustion is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that utilizes moxa which is prepared with the dried herb known as mugwort. Dr. Csoka uses moxa to warm specific regions of the body, more specifically, acupuncture points. It is used to stimulate circulation which induces a smooth flow of qi.

There are several techniques of performing moxibustion, such as using a moxa stick to directly warm the area on the skin. Also, moxibusion can be performed by placing the moxa at the end of an already placed needle and igniting it to generate heat.

COMPLETE WELLNESS

Many people often wonder what all the fuss is about. Why should anyone seek the assistance of a clinical dietitian or pursue a physician weight loss program? After all, aren’t bookstores, the Internet, and even the magazine rack at the corner shop practically overflowing with a superabundance of tips, tricks, and trivia on the subjects of weight management and the latest, hottest nutrient super foods? That overload may be the best reason of all to get to know Dr. Katalin Csoka, your holistic nutritionist in Orange County.

acupressure

Acupressure has been around for at least 5,000 years. It came to be when Chinese medicine workers started to find a correlation between adding pressure to pressure points and pain there lessening. Not only that, but they also found that it helped to make certain organs work better. Eastern medicine is an ancient practice, but it is still in use because it is successful.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping therapy is a form of ancient Chinese medicine in which suction is applied to the skin. This practice is believed to mobilize blood flow to promote healing. This practice is believed to date back to 3000 B.C. Cupping can be performed with cups made of glass, bamboo or earthenware.

During both methods, a flammable substance is placed inside the cup and set on fire and then quickly removed. Once the fire goes out, the cup is turned upside down and placed on the patient’s skin. This creates a vacuum as the air cools inside the cup. The cup is normally left in place for up to fifteen minutes. A more contemporary method of this therapy makes use of a pump instead of fire to create the suction within the cup.
